First Impression: Gurren Lagann is definitely one of those animes that has grasp a large enough fan-base (from what I can see), that it can’t be disregarded as a series. At first I did not get what the big deal was since it seemed pretty standard. Gainax working on it, hot-blooded mecha series, at least one main female character that grasp the viewers attention. This series pretty much gave JUST that, but yet somehow it contained almost a perfect balance of all series. Hot-Blooded Mecha, Females, Comedy, Fanservice, Protagonist that becomes amazing. This series did not fail to deliver both energy and great love for story and characters alike.
Final Impression: After finishing the whole series I could not help but feel sad. The series that was filled with so much epic. . .it was really hard to just have it end. The place where it ended was definitely a great place to end, but for some reason I wanted more. This series is definitely one that is a must watch to anyone. I’m positively sure that someone will like something about it. The series was a good 27 episodes long with an OVA that is archs episode 5 and 6? and also a remade/uncensored version of episode 6, which basically means it took out the flashback and extended the “fanservice”. It has a great balance of using fanservice when it needs to be used and yet keeping it in such a manner where its not interfering with the viewing experience. It doesn’t overload you with it, but also gives enough to satisfy one’s need. (course there are alternatives to those who want more. . . )
Overall, it is definitely worth watching. Its one of the view series I can say its a perfect 10 out of 10.
