My life and wallet does not exist starting as of now.

With the upcoming releases of new games, the excitement of going applying and hopefully getting into a university, the need to find a job and a reason to live has officially taken its toll. I’m doing my best (or at least I tell myself that) at trying to get read for college, but at the same time I’m taking a more laid back approach with all the new games releasing. Currently excited for the two games releasing tomorrow which are Fallout 3 and Red Alert 3, while also looking forward to Call of Duty: World at War and Left 4 Dead. Also looking forward to December when my friend will give me a tip on the package that I had him help me get, which contains two things. One being another game Fate/Unlimted Codes for the PS2. I couldn’t help myself and got the limited edition just because its Type-Moon and ever since Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night, I became a huge Type-Moon fan. Awaiting translations for Fate/Stay Night down at Mirrormoon is also driving me to waste my life away even more. Dead Space will be installed shortly in the next few days which will also take up a whole lot of time.

To sum this whole rant up, I am currently wasting my life on various things, thus causing me to be both busy and extremely free at the same time. Am I doing anything productive you ask? Well. . . no. Sadly, but true. Ah well. Also tons of new anime this season. So yeah.

Still, come on down to Otaku-Complex for (hopefully) more updates on me posting and stuff… yeah.

Are Anime Series Starting to Lose Originality?

Okay for some reason or another I’ve been getting a sense that many series I’ve seen lacked originality. Now I’m not saying series borrow from each other, but more like…theres this lack of difference in either story, character or theme in general.

Now I won’t say I’m right and everyone else is wrong, I’m just giving my input on what I’ve seen, if you feel differently please feel free to say so.

Lets begin with a look more well-known series… Why not take Bleach and Naruto for example. Now being Shounen Jump-related I can tell this. Both share many similarities between each other, but lets look at series related to them outside of S.J. for a bit. Lets take Kiba for example (since I’ve just finished it). Now its not an exact parallel series, but it does share similarities.

Such examples being the protagonist is constantly looking to get stronger in order to protect those close to them. How about the protagonist going berserk and becomes insanely strong, but soon is able to control/fight that inner “demon” and break free? Thats just a small example.

Another one that I’ve noticed is in most H-games-to-Anime series…those slice of life series. Personally I love those kinds of series, but once again, originality is lacking. Lets take one my favorites, Da Capo, and compare it with something like . . . Kanon (which is also a fav’d series). Lets compare, we have the normal girl that is somehow really close to the protagonist male (child-hood friend, non-blood related sibling, etc). We have the female who is an animal of some sort (both Da Capo and Kanon had a female character that were a cat [correct on Kanon?]). We get another Child-Hood friend who has something done to them during the past (Kanon being Aya in coma and Da Capo’s Sakura being forever young). Now that doesn’t cover all the characters, but its about there. Although this is not completely true for ever series, there is some way or another where one can find a relation to a character from something else.

Lets take a look into the atmosphere/feel/theme of series now. Using Code Geass and Death Note (oh boy no one saw this I bet). Both of which are based around outsmarting the opponent. In this conflict we see the protagonist and antagonist both pushing back and forth and almost without a victor. Since Code Geass still has a second season coming up I can not say that the outcome of the series is similar to that of Death Note’s, but you can see a similarity.

Personally I just feel like I’ve seen too much of the same thing over and over again, and although thats not a bad thing, I’d wish to see some more originality. I must say though series such as Genshiken and Haruhi were quite original from my views, but there are probably more series out there that I’ve seen that are just as original, but I’ve failed to notice them.

Okay so according to Kotaku Lucky Star (like Haruhi) will get a live-action adult film…This is horrible….I don’t know what to say….it will probably be under-produced due to the budget of being a penny and it will probably be a lol-fest.

Reason behind crappiness.

Okay there are a few factors in why I don’t really update this anymore.
1: I just got back from vacation, but that doesn’t do much
2: I don’t really have anything to update about currently…I mean sure new series and what not, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to do an article on it over WordPress.
3: I (for some reason or another) dislike the layout…I feel the place is too plan and I’m too lazy to do anything about it.
4: Just plan procrastinating.

Although I don’t update K.A.W.A.I.I. as often as I should I can say that people can still go visit my Xanga for updates. I purposely made K.A.W.A.I.I. for the reason of keeping people updated on anime and give a few feedback on games and all here and there and also get some input on shopping for merchandise and what not. So sorry for lack of updates and if anyone actually DOES keep up with this place I am sorry. For those who just came by feel free to look around, comment if possible or go visit my xanga for updates.

Loli-battle comes to an end. Everything is lost.

Some may know or not know lolitron.org had a loli battle to decide who would be victorious and queen of the loli. It was a rigorous for some and a breeze for others *cough* Loli-in-a-bag *cough*, but in the end it was a somewhat fair fight with very good, and some not so good, match ups.

Now with the battle over and the dust clearing over the battle field you can see Shana standing victorious after a tough fight with Fate. Although she stands it wasn’t an easy battle. Shana has definitely won my heart in favorite loli along with many more, but the people have spoken and they demand Shana over Fate. Fate comes in second by only 100- votes. Kyon no Imouto is third with Takamachi Nanoha in 4th (this is based on the amount of votes each got during their respected semi-final battle).

Danbooru recover coverage.

With Danbooru dead, many otakus crying in the corner, and a few people with remains of Danbooru; few danbooru-like sites have popped up. As one major one (more like I saw it on Lolifox home) Sagubooru. Its still kind of unstable and really hard to access. [http://foone.org/tinyboofoo/index.py] still contains remains of Danbooru so you can check around there, although not amazing. A few danbooru-like H boards have started up also although still very new and not amazing and probably temporary. I won’t link those to keep this site a little SFW. You can check around to find them, which might be hard. I recommend people working with the remains at the tinyboofoo site or Sagubooru which is quite unstable and extremely laggy to access. If anything comes up I will keep people posted. If you find other scattered projects running similar to Danbooru feel free to share. By doing so you will save many otakus from death or going back to 4chan or something similar. (which could be fine for some and horrid for others)

I DEMAND MORE HOURS!

I wish a day had more hours. I can never find enough time to do anything. I’d get home from school and the next thing you’ll know is its already 6 and dinner is ready. Basically I come home and do absolutely NOTHING! (unless you count watching anime and being ‘unproductive’ something) and after that I procrastinate my homework. Currently I am still procrastinating/in the process of doing my work. If a day had more hours it’d be cool because then we have more time to do stuff. Of course those extra hours will also help me catch up on tons of anime that I need to finish and/or start, which is sad considering I have so much stuff and yet 10-20% of it is something I haven’t started watching yet or its just on hold from my list of MUST FINISH BEFORE DEATH! thing.

Well…I wish I had some kind of way to get through this. I wish I had Geass or a Death Note…yeah…that’d be cool….although the Death Note is kind of going to a little too much extreme I wouldn’t mind having Geass….and C.C. just asking to be raped (because Lelouch won’t do anything I might as well take the initiative….although I much rather prefer Kallen-chan ^^). Actually I wish the whole stereotypes of Asians kick in…you know like how we can make our homework done just by looking at it or being able to shit out technology and all that fun stuff, but I guess stereotypes aren’t true after all (or in that matter).

Well its already 12:15am here and I seriously need to sleep. I guess I’ll procrastinate/not care about my Chinese HW…. orz I wish I was mandarin and could type and read Chinese faster…DAMN YOU AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR KILLING MY CANTONESE AND CHINESE ABILITIES!! >< orz

BTW I’m Chinese if that wasn’t blatant enough.
